Bruce Nichols Positive Improvement Award

Bruce Nichols Positive Improvement Award

About the Award...

The Bruce Nichols Positive Improvement Award is an annual award given out in honor of Bruce Nichols. Bruce grew up in South Beloit and was a member of the E.J. Dalton Boys Club when members were bussed from South Beloit to Beloit. Bruce became involved as a volunteer at the Club while he was a student at Illinois State University. Bruce's dedication to the Club turned into a full time career as he most notably held the position of Unit Director of the South Beloit Boys Club from 1981 - 1998. He remained Unit Director of the South Beloit Club which was now a Boys & Girls Club. Throughout his career, Bruce was involved with the organization as a whole and became Director of Operations in 2006.

Bruce and his wife Renee (also a Club volunteer and Art staff) relocated to Florida in 2009. Bruce's entire family has always been involved with the South Beloit Boys & Girls Club. Even the many miles between the Stateline area and Florida haven't stopped Bruce and his family from Club involvement. The Nichols' are very involved with the Club via the South Beloit Boys & Girls Club Auxiliary Board events.

This award is in honor of Bruce's Club Legacy of making sure that every kid should feel like they have a place to fit in and that many of the youth in the area, especially those that have disadvantages, can be a positive influence in the Stateline Community.
